What is a wart?

A wart is a hard, callous thickening of the epidermis in the form of a crude cauliflower-like bulge. In itself harmless, but can be ugly and very contagious. Half of all warts disappear spontaneously within one or two years.

There are several varieties of the verruca

  • The mosaic verruca which grows superficially
  • A thorn verruca, that grows in the depth
  • Brown or grey coloured, often with one or more blackheads
  • Feels soft, can be corneous
  • Especially with children and youth through contamination in the gym, swimming pool or communal shower
